This is a list of the websites from a wide variety of organizations concerned about health systems. It includes sites maintained by international organizations, countries, donors from the public and private sectors, governmental and nongovernmental organizations and individuals that have expressed an interest in working together to achieve this goal. This list is provided as a reference tool for HSAN website users; inclusion of a link to a particular website does not imply endorsement by HSAN of the site’s content. Launched by WHO and UNAIDS on World AIDS Day in 2003, this initiative aims to provide anti-retroviral therapy (ART) to 3 million people with HIV/AIDS in fifty developing countries by the end of 2005. However, the Three by Five initiative is not a funding entity for ART scale-up. Instead it is supposed to serve as a catalyst for other funding sources. La Concertation is a network of actors involved in the development of mutual health organizations in Africa. Equitap was established in 2000 to jointly work on examining equity in national health systems in the Asia-Pacific region. Equitap consists of participants from more than seventeen institutions in Asia and Europe. - Global AIDS Alliance (GAA)
The Global AIDS Alliance (GAA) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. who's mission is to galvanize the political will and financial resources needed to address the global AIDS crisis and reduce its impacts on poor countries that have been hardest hit by the pandemic. Founded in 2001, GAA has carved out a leadership role in shaping AIDS policy discussions and mobilizing campaigns to break through entrenched bureaucratic inaction and speed the pace of the global response to HIV/AIDS. - Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI)
The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, launched in 2000, is a public-private partnership committed to improving child health and alleviating disparities in vaccine access in poor countries. - Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need. The GFATM operates as a financial agent, not an implementing agency. Funding can be provided to governments, NGOs, and the private sector. - Health Action AIDS Campaign
The Health Action AIDS Campaign is a project of Physicians for Human Rights in coordination with Partners In Health, the HIV Medicine Association, and the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. The Health Action AIDS Campaign engages the US health professional community and colleagues in AIDS-burdened nations--in the international advocacy and education effort to stop the global AIDS pandemic. HDN was established in Ireland in 1998, and registered as a Foundation in Thailand in 2003. - Health Economics and Financing Programme (HEFP)
The Health Economics and Financing Programme (HEFP) was created in 1990 with funding from DfID. The aim of the Programme is to seek to improve the equity, efficiency and quality of health services in developing countries through the application of health economics and encouraging the appropriate use of economic information and techniques in decision-making. - Health GAP (Global Access Project)

The HLSP Institute aims to inform debate and policy on global health issues and national health systems, in order to reduce inequalities in health. The Institute assesses new and emerging issues in international health and development practice. The central aim of the International Finance Facility for Immunization (IFFIm) is to save more children's lives in order to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. By investing the majority of resources upfront or "frontloading", this innovative funding mechanism will increase significantly the flow of aid to ensure reliable and predictable funding flows for immunization programs and health systems development during the years up to 2015. - Joint Learning Initiative on Human Resources for Health
The Joint Learning Initiative on Human Resources for Health and Development (JLI) was launched in November 2002 in recognition of the centrality of the workforce for global health. At that time, human resources for health was neglected as a critical resource for the performance of health systems. Put simply, the workforce was invisible in the policy agenda. Political deliberations and social advocacy had appropriately focused on increasing financing and lowering prices of antiretroviral drugs for saving lives at risk to HIV/AIDS. To the founders of the JLI, it became progressively clear that the workforce, the human backbone of all health action, was comparatively overlooked. Human resources presented both a huge opportunity as well as a major bottleneck to overcoming global health challenges. - Kaiser Network

The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, announced in 2003 by President Bush, is housed in the US State Department and directs US government funds to implement AIDS relief in key HIV-infected countries. The primary departments and agencies of the US government committed to this implementation include the Departments of State, Defense, Health and Human Services, Commerce, and Labor; the U.S. Agency for International Development; the Peace Corps, and Census Bureau. - Roll Back Malaria Partnership
Roll Back Malaria is a global partnership launched in 1998 by WHO, UNICEF, UNDP and the World Bank to provide a coordinated international approach to fighting malaria. The goal of RBM is to halve the burden of malaria by 2010. - Routine Health Information Network (RHINO)
In order to promote high quality and practical approaches to the collection and use of routine health information in developing countries, the USAID-funded MEASURE Evaluation Project, the World Bank, and John Snow, Inc. have created the Routine Health Information (or RHINO) Network, comprised of developing country governments, donor agencies, technical groups, and PVOs. Through engaging in a coordinated response, the Network will strengthen the role of evidence-based decision-making in the health sector in lesser-developed countries, and improve overall planning and management of health activities. - Stop TB Partnership
The Stop TB Partnership was established in 2000 to realize the goal of eliminating TB as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB. Health Affairs is the leading journal of health policy thought and research. All papers are peer-reviewed, and the acceptance rate is 10–15 percent. Published since 1981, Health Affairs is nonpartisan and presents a wide range of timely research and commentary on health issues of current concern in both domestic and international spheres.
